Callaway-Jones Funeral and Cremation Centers has been in business for 110 years and in their Bryan location since 1953.
Cody Jones, fifth-generation owner, said the business was in need of an update to keep up with the changing demographic of the community.
“Texas A&M alumni and other elderly families moving here to retire, our demographic is growing,” said Jones.
The business recently completed a two-year construction project on a new facility in the same location on South College Avenue across from the Travis B. Bryan Municipal Golf Course.
“We wanted our families to feel comfortable here, we wanted their guests to be able to feel comfortable here, we wanted to take the stigma of a funeral home and throw that out the window,” said Jones, “We have very high and tall ceilings, very large windows, lots of natural light.”
Callaway-Jones has also incorporated new technology with flat screens, live streaming services, and a 35-foot video tribute wall.
“We can make them feel like they’re on a beach, or on a golf course, or wherever their loved one liked spending time,” said Jones.
The official grand opening of Callway-Jones’ new facility is Wednesday, April 26 from 4 to 7 p.m. with a ribbon cutting at 4:30 p.m.
