Construction of a $25 million dollar housing and retail development in the Northgate district can start as early as mid-March.
The lawyer representing Houston developer Asset Plus confirmed Friday that an agreement has been reached with the occupants of the original College Station city hall to vacate the building.
The operators of Cafe Eccell had appealed a Justice of the Peace eviction order. A jury trial was scheduled to start in a Brazos County Court at Law on February 26.
The attorney for Asset Plus said he was not at liberty to reveal the terms of their settlement. That includes but is not limited to whether the restaurant operators would be paying any rent since January 14. That was the last day of a lease with the city of College Station.
At the time of the eviction notice, Cafe Eccell was also ordered to pay $7,500 in legal fees to Asset Plus.
Last December, Cafe Eccell sued Asset Plus, the city of College Station, and the Research Valley Partnership to stay where they’ve been for more than 20 years.
