Bush to Write Memoirs

NEW YORK (AP) _ Former President George W. Bush, who once famously called himself “The Decider,” is writing a book about his decisions.

Bush offered details today in a telephone interview with The Associated Press. He spoke from his office in Dallas

Bush says he wants people to understand the environment in which he was making decisions, a sense of how those decisions were made and the options placed before him.

Bush’s book, tentatively called “Decision Points,” is scheduled for 2010 release by Crown. Financial details weren’t disclosed.

Bush will concentrate on about one dozen choices. The list ranges from giving up drinking to picking Dick Cheney as vice president to sending troops to Iraq.

Bush will also write about his response to 2005’s Hurricane Katrina — plus about his relationship with his father, ex-President George H.W. Bush of Houston.
