A WTAW listener who recently visited Lake Bryan sent The Infomaniacs a text asking if the water is safe because the water is…in their words…”so oily and nasty”.

Here’s the response from BTU, which owns the lake:

Lake Bryan is a natural body of water and therefore is subject to growing algae and having sediment in the water. Quarterly tests are performed on the Lake by a third party testing facility. The most recent test was performed in May and no abnormalities were found. BTU encourages lake goers to take the same care in visiting Lake Bryan as they do other natural, untreated bodies of water. Swimmers and other lake users should take care not to ingest untreated water or get it up their nose. Lake Bryan is a swim at your own risk lake; Lifeguards are not present. BTU encourages visitors to practice safe swimming, boating, and water sport tactics.
