BTU Update on Smartmeters & Developing New Pre-Pay System

BTU general manager Gary Miller visited with Scott Delucia on WTAW’s The Infomaniacs about this week’s power outages and the use of smartmeters by customers and the utility.

BTU officials were at this week’s city council meeting providing an update on the development of a new customer pre-pay system.

Chief Information Officer Bernie Acre said pre-pay was part of a major billing upgrade that starts this November, involving seven to nine employees, and will take eight months to complete.

Group Manager David Werley told councilman Rafael Pena pre-pay is projected to become available in the spring of 2017.
