Bryan’s First Friday to Include Firemen’s Memorial Service & Fundraiser

The Downtown Bryan Association’s (DBA) First Friday for March will include two events related to the victims of the recent Knights of Columbus Hall fire.

There will be a memorial service Friday evening starting at 6:30 in the 500 block of North Main, between 21st and 22nd Streets. DBA Interim Executive Director Rene Lawrence says speakers will include a member of the Bryan City Council and Fire Chief Randy McGregor. There will be prayers from representatives of two downtown churches, St. Andrews Episcopal and First United Methodist. There will also be music from a Bryan High School string quartet and a bagpiper.

Lawrence says the DBA has also organized a profit share to support families of the fire victims. A list that began with 10 merchants has nearly doubled as of Thursday afternoon. Lawrence says a portion of sales from Friday through Sunday (March 1–3) will go to the Brazos Valley Media Giving Back Fund.
