A Bryan woman spent part of the weekend in jail after being arrested Friday in a Brazos County district courtroom on a charge of money laundering.

The courtroom arrest of 22 year old Moesha Alexander was after the district attorney’s office dropped an unrelated charge of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon.

Prosecutors say there was evidence that after Alexander was charged, she acted in self defense when she struck her then boyfriend with a hammer last November in Bryan.

While Alexander was out on bond, prosecutors investigated information unrelated to the assault that led to her arrest on a new charge of withdrawing more than $6,300 dollars from her checking account after a man in California made a deposit using a forged check.

Alexander told investigators she was the victim of a scam where she split the money with other participants.

According to online records, none of the people Alexander mentioned have been arrested.

She is out jail after posting a $5,000 dollar dollar bond.
