Bryan police arrest an intermediate school student on a charge of threatening to bring a gun to school.
A joint news release from BPD and Bryan ISD says Thursday morning’s (October 10) incident at Rayburn intermediate did not involve a credible threat to the school, students, or employees.
The unidentified student was removed from campus and taken to the Brazos County juvenile detention center on a misdemeanor charge.

On October 10th, 2024, at approximately 10:15 a.m., BISD administration, along with School Resource Officers from the Bryan Police Department responded to a report of a verbal threat made by a student in regards to bringing a firearm to school.
This incident took place at Sam Rayburn Intermediate School.
During the investigation, it was determined there was no credible threat to the school, students or staff.
The juvenile student that made the threat was removed from campus and placed under arrest and transported to the Brazos County Juvenile Detention Center and booked in for Texas Education Code 37.125 Exhibition, Use, or Threat of Exhibition or Use of Firearms.
Due to the arrest involving a juvenile, no further information will be released.

(a) A person commits an offense if, in a manner intended to cause alarm or personal injury to another person or to damage school property, the person intentionally:
(3) threatens to exhibit or use a firearm in or on property described by Subdivision (1)(A) or on a bus described by Subdivision (1)(B).
(c) An offense under Subsection (a)(3) is a Class A misdemeanor.
