Almost one year after a Bryan man admitted to cutting a woman with a box cutter knife, he is now headed to prison after violating probation.

A two year sentence is part of a plea agreement between 31 year old Abdi Ali and the Brazos County district attorney’s office.

In January 2025, Ali pleaded guilty to aggravated assault with a deadly weapon.

In May of 2025, prosecutors filed a motion to revoke probation for among other reasons giving a fake name to police and for public intoxication.

Then it took eight months, until January 8, for the court appearance where the plea agreement was reached.

At this month’s court appearance, online records show Ali pleaded guilty for failing to identify himself when he gave the fake name in April 2025.
