A Bryan man is behind bars for the 37th time.
47-year-old Melvin Earl Thompson, Jr. was arrested Wednesday for possession of a significant amount of drugs — and evading arrest.
Bryan Police initiated a traffic stop on Thompson near the 900 block of West 17th Street just after 2:00am. He was on a motor scooter and failed to stop at a stop sign.
Arrest reports say Thompson smelled of marijuana, so officers attempted a probable cause search of the man. He scooted approximately 12 feet before officers stopped him and placed him in handcuffs.
Police found a total of 11 baggies containing marijuana, methamphetamine, crack cocaine, MDMA, and pills marked Adderall.
The drugs were later weighed at the Police Department and the following weights are below:
Controlled Substance Penalty Group 1 (Cocaine and Methamphetamine) total packaged weight = 8.67g
Controlled Substance Penalty Group 2 (MDMA and Adderall) total packaged weight = 3.42g
Thompson was charged with two counts of Possession with Intent to Distribute, Possession of Marijuana, and Evading Arrest. He remains jailed on $68,000 bond.

Manufacture and Delivery CS PG1 4G – 200G = $40,000.00
Manufacture and Delivery CS PG 2 >=1G<4G = $20,000.00
