The Brazos County district attorney’s office has announced a plea agreement where a Bryan man admits to setting a fire that did an estimated $200,000 dollars damage to a Bryan motel.

38 year old Andrew Guedea said he set the October 2017 fire at the Relax Inn on Highway 21 near the freeway that damaged 20 rooms. Guedea was sentenced to 28 years in prison and was ordered to pay restitution of $2,500 dollars.

The plea agreement bars prosecutors from pursuing a criminal mischief charge against Guedea that happened after his arrest. According to Bryan police, Guedea caused an estimated $20,000 dollars damage after getting into a crawl space above the CHI St. Joseph emergency room. Guedea was taken to the ER after the motel fire to be treated for smoke inhalation.
