That’s after 39 year old Cresencio Gongora III admitted to stealing $13,000 dollars of flatware from a Bryan woman in January 2015.
The ten year prison sentence is part of a plea agreement where the judge barred prosecutors from pursuing two charges of driving with an invalid license with a prior conviction.
Gongora also pleaded guilty to two counts of misdemeanor theft that happened last year.
Members of the Texas A&M faculty senate get an update on the interchange that will be built at George Bush Drive and Wellborn Road. Debbie Albert at the Texas A&M Transportation Institute (TTI) says faculty input can make the construction process less messy. Faculty members are asked to participate in a survey. Albert says out of 3,000 responses, very few have come from faculty members. Click HERE to be directed to the survey website. Albert says the current timetable calls for construction to start as soon as the spring of 2026. Albert says the current design is a deeper version of what is at Wellborn and Old Main. Traffic on George Bush is currently designed to go 35 feet below Wellborn and the railroad. In between, will be a pedestrian path. Over 300,000 cubic yards of dirt will be removed. And the project design includes a pump station and a detention pond at the former site of a McDonald’s to remove and store storm water during rain events. A Florida man was flown to Brazos County to be booked on a College Station police charge of stalking a woman online and on the phone. 38 year old Bryan Gall of Orlando, who waived extradition, was released from jail after posting a $50,000 dollar bond. The CSPD arrest report says Gall, who had a no contact order issued in Florida last October, called and used social media multiple times this year in attempts to reach the victim. Bond conditions includes Gall wearing a GPS monitor, having no contact with the victim or those associated with the victim, having no third party communication with the victim, remaining at home every day between 7 p.m. and 7 a.m., and surrendering his passport.
The College Station city council approves a request by the owners of 104 of 147 home lots in three subdivisions to limit the number of unrelated residents to two. The council at its August 8th meeting unanimously approved the ROO, or restricted occupancy overlay designation for homes along Ashburn between Dominik and Lincoln. The homes are in the College Hills Woodlands, Woodland Acres, and Sweet Briar additions. Councilman Dennis Maloney noted that only 13 percent of subdivisions in College Station have enough owner occupied homes to apply for a ROO. Gabriel Schrum of the city’s planning and development office said grandfathering is allowed of existing rental homes with three or four unrelated occupants. That is permitted as long as those homeowners remain current with the city’s rental registration program.
