Bryan ISD Trustees Workshop Focus on Budget Plans

The Bryan school board isn’t waiting for the state legislature to finalize education funding.

At a workshop earlier this week, Board of Trustees President Pat Shields says staff was directed to develop three budgets using declining amounts of state support.

Trustees also discussed expanding the district’s offer to pay employees to resign.

Also discussed was the elimination of employee child care and the International Baccalaureate program for sixth through eighth graders.

Shields says a $50,000 dollar grant to help pay for child care is not expected to be renewed and a curriculum can be developed as strong as IB but without the costs.
