February’s winter storms did not stop the Bryan ISD school board from holding its monthly nighttime business meeting.

The board without discussion unanimously approved giving the superintendent the authority to negotiate a contract with the recommended architectural engineer for the $8.5 million dollar expansion at Rudder high school.

Assistant superintendent Kevin Beesaw said applications were received from 14 firms.

A BISD employee committee interviewed six finalists.

The Rudder project includes 14 new classrooms…replacing a majority of portable buildings…and expanding the parking lot.

The February 15th meeting was the first since last September with a seventh member participating.

That’s after former member David Stasny was sworn in to fill the remainder of the term representing the west side of the district.
