Bryan ISD school board members and administrators are accused of discriminating against Hispanic and Black educators and students.
Jody and Marie Rodriguez, who are BISD alumni, said during the board’s June 17th meeting that they will continue to speak out.
Jody Rodriguez said there are race issues after reviewing the pay of BISD’s top 100 hundred employees.
He also wants educators to reflect the racial majority of BISD’s student body, which he says is 85 percent of “people of color”.
After Marie Rodriguez criticized superintendent Ginger Carrabine by name, board president Julie Harlin attempted to move the matter behind closed doors. The exchange ended in public.
Because the topic was not on the agenda, by state law board members are not allowed to respond to public comments.
