Bryan ISD school board members approve without discussion, how the district will comply with state requirements to reduce the number of teachers who are not certified.
Background information provided by BISD says the district had 211 uncertified teachers in 2024. The current number is 198.
The Bryan board unanimously approved the process of certifying 114 teachers of core courses, using the state’s district of innovation exception to state law.
For instance, affected uncertified teachers are required by March second to enroll in a preparation program.
Those who are early childhood through sixth grade core teachers must earn an internship certification by March 31st of 2027. Those teachers have another year to achieve full certification.
And the remaining core content teachers must be fully certified by the start of classes in August of 2029.
