Bryan ISD Begins Fundraising for Bastrop Victims

Bryan school district officials have adopted a school year theme of “Be The One”.

Spokeswoman Sandy Farris says that applies to a fundraising drive starting Monday assisting wildfire victims in Bastrop.

Farris says over 200 Bastrop ISD employees lost their homes and possessions. And over 1,300 homes were destroyed in the Bastrop area, many of those belonging to Bastrop students.

Bryan ISD campuses will collect cash and/or gift cards to be donated to the Bastrop ISD employee relief fund and to directly benefit the students of the district.

Students and staff are being asked to contribute at least $1 each toward the effort. Gift cards should be to restaurants, gas stations and stores carrying clothing.

If community members wish to join in the effort, they may call 979-209-1022 or e-mail info (at) bryanisd.org for more information.
