Bryan Home Garage Explosion After Fuel Vapors Reach Water Heater

Another danger during extreme heat is having fuel containers in the same space as a hot water heater.

Bryan firefighters were called this week to an explosion in the garage of a home in the Copperfield subdivision.

William Bouse of the Fire Marshal’s office says an explosion blew a garage door off its track and moved two walls.

Bouse says vapors from fuel containers reached a gas-fired water heater, which caused the explosion.

Bouse says the one and five gallon containers were not damaged.

No injuries were reported.

William Bouse visits with WTAW’s Bill Oliver.
