Bryan Grass Fire Reignites, Again Threatens Mobile Home Park

For the second straight day, local firefighters in a wooded area on Bryan’s west side keeping a wildfire from spreading into a mobile home park.

Bryan Fire Chief Mike Donoho says the original call was Thursday evening off of Clear Leaf and Silkwood, east of FM 2818.

Donoho says Thursday’s fire consumed most of the underbrush in the 10 acres of thick woods and threatened Oakwood Mobile Home Park, located east of Jane Long Middle School.

Friday afternoon, Donoho says the fire reignited. Responding were crews from two of Bryan’s five fire stations, one from College Station, and one from Brazos County.

The only damage was the loss of a small tool shed. Donoho says no firefighters have been injured.

In addition to putting water on the fire, Donoho says time was taken clearing paths for brush trucks to get to hotspots.
