Bryan Electric Production Reflects Heat Wave

Bryan’s electric provider has delivered 50 percent more electricity in the early days of August compared to a month ago.

BTU spokesman Bob Wheeler says 280 megawatts was generated on Wednesday. One megawatt during hot weather delivers enough electricity to 200 homes running air conditioners. On July 3rd when the HIGH temperature was 83, BTU generated 184 megawatts.

Wheeler also reported the state’s electric grid operator set a new single day record on Wednesday and has enough capacity to meet a higher load expected later this summer with reserves to spare to cover unexpected major outages.
