Bryan Council Decides Against Curbside Recycling After Learning It’s Offered By A Private Company

The idea of the city of Bryan to add a curbside recycling program for residential customers is on hold.

That’s because the city council learned at its last meeting from deputy city manager Hugh Walker that a private business has a city permit offering that service.

City manager Kean Register added the private business currently serves more than one hundred customers, who pay about $15 a month. In College Station, the city council approved going city-wide with an expanded residential recycling program at no additional charge.

Bryan does have a recycling center near the Briarcrest Wal-Mart that is open daily.
