Bryan Council Approves TxDOT Agreement & City Announces Start Of Creek Drainage Project

Business at this week’s Bryan city council meeting included approving another joint agreement with the Texas Department of Transportation.

TxDOT says construction will start next summer on $2.2 million dollars of projects at six locations.

The city will pay ten percent through transportation fees.

Most of the money will go towards repaving Finfeather from Groesbeck to the south city limits. Finfeather will become three lanes for vehicles and bike lanes will be added…according to city officials…to connect downtown Bryan with the Texas A&M campus. This project also includes new traffic signals at the intersection of Finfeather, Carson, and Turkey Creek.

The agreement also calls for new traffic signals at Carson and South College, South College and Villa Maria, and Texas and 29th. New flashing beacons will be installed at Highway 21 and Marino near Coulter Field airport.

In an unrelated project, the city of Bryan has announced construction has started on replacing concrete creek channels in three locations. Weather permitting, the project will be completed in December on Still Creek Tributary at North Reed between West 21st and 22nd, Burton Creek at the upstream vehicle ramp in Tanglewood Park, and Burton Creek near Parkway Circle.
