Former members of the Bryan city council at this week’s meeting approved more flashing lights at school zones.
Public Works director Jayson Barfknecht was asked about the staff recommendation.
The flashing lights will be installed around Bryan Collegiate and five elementary schools…Bowen, Branch, Carver/Kemp, Houston, and Neal. Existing lights will also be replaced around Allen Academy.
The council also approved replacing traffic signals at Villa Maria and Carter Creek. The $312,000 dollar project also includes a right turn lane for Villa Maria traffic turning to Carter Creek approaching the new Sul Ross school.
Pulled from Monday night’s agenda was considering a sidewalk along Sandy Point Road from Highway 21 west to the Forest Park apartments. Former councilman Rafael Pena, who made repeated attempts for the sidewalk, did not attend the meeting.
