Bryan Council Approves Changes In Residential Conservation District Ordinance

Public complaints going back six years to close loopholes in a Bryan housing ordinance have received first round approval by the city council.

Changes to Bryan’s residential conservation neighborhood districts includes among other things restricts the number of unrelated occupants in a home to two.

Councilman Mike Southerland sought assurances from city staff the revisions can be enforced.

Southerland asked city attorney Janis Hampton about being able to prove residency by how many days a vehicle is parked outside a home.

Southerland also called for a review of the revised ordinance a year from now.

No one appeared at the public hearing before the council’s unanimous vote at their last regular meeting.
