The Bryan city council awards a $4.2 million dollar contract to build a signature playground at Midtown Park.
Funding for 125 different play components and three shaded pavilions with picnic tables comes from a $2 million dollar foundation grant and the remainder from city funds.
Answering a council question, project manager Frank Clark said the location of benches and picnic tables will be determined by the contractor in consultation with parks department employees.
Additional money will be required to build restrooms and add lighting.
Construction is expected to take 15 months to complete.
