Bryan City Council Approves Two Street Projects

This week’s special meeting of the Bryan city council approved moving ahead with two street projects.

With no discussion, the council awarded a $1 million dollar construction contract to realign the intersection of Waco Street at Highway 21 so Waco Street lines up with Tabor Road. In addition to a concrete roadway, there will be drainage improvements along Waco and Old Kurten Road. Traffic signals at the new intersection are not planned at this time. Construction could start as early as October, and weather permitting would take six months to complete.

The council, again without discussion, approved a $60,000 dollar engineering contract to replace stoplights at the intersections of Briarcrest and Villa Maria and Briarcrest and Broadmoor. The design includes new pedestrian and sidewalk curb ramps at both intersections. The timeline calls for the council to award a construction contract by July 30th of next year.
