The president of the Bryan firefighters association spoke at Tuesday night’s city council meeting before the council unanimously approved an amended agreement.

Daniel Buford says they have issues to discuss for the next agreement involving “a lot of public safety concerns regarding firefighter retention, staffing, and benefits.”

Buford also thanked city staff for their good faith effort reaching the agreement.

No one on the council or city staff commented about the amendment that allows the new fire chief to create the position of deputy chief and appoint two assistant chiefs.
