Three weeks before the Brazos Valley Bombers home opener, the Bryan city council approved a request from team ownership to defer paying what amounts to last year’s rent of Travis Field.

The council without discussion, unanimously approved at its last meeting moving the $27,836 dollar payment that was due last September until 2025.

Infinity Sports Entertainment, which has had exclusive use of Travis Field for 15 years, is to pay the city $278,360 dollars, split into ten annual payments, as part of an agreement where the city spent almost $2 million dollars in ballpark improvements.

City staff supported the request, stating this was another business that sustained an economic hardship last year due to the pandemic.

Infinity’s owner and managing partner reported that the pandemic was responsible for last year’s 70 percent revenue drop with the Bombers and a 90 percent drop with the Cavalry FC soccer team that also uses Travis Field.

Infinity has the exclusive right to retain all revenues, the city is responsible to pay all utilities in an annual amount not to exceed 25 thousand dollars, and Infinity is responsible for repairs and maintenance, except for field lighting.
