Bryan City Council Approve Bryan ISD’s Request To Limit Access At Two Parks During School Hours

Bryan City Council Conditionally Continues An Exclusive Agreement With The Owner Of Bombers Baseball And Toucans Soccer To Manage Travis Field Stadium

The Bryan city council decides, with conditions, to let the company that owns Brazos Valley Bombers baseball and Twin Cities Toucans soccer continue an exclusive agreement to manage Travis Field stadium through the end of its contract in 2025. The five to nothing council vote approved a motion composed by city attorney Thomas Leeper. The motion allows the city council to seek requests for managing the stadium after the 2025 Bombers season without the threat of a lawsuit from the Bombers and Toucans parent company, Infinity Sports & Entertainment. Leeper said “the motion would be to rescind the notice of termination contingent upon Infinity Sports Entertainment’s amending the agreement to permit the city to have the option to issue a request for proposal after 60 days from July 18, 2024.” The council’s vote followed three hours of public comments that included a one hour and 20 minute exchange between council members and Infinity/Bombers/Toucans owner Uri Geva, which ended with the framework for the motion that the council approved after the governing body heard 30 minutes of comments from 18 Bombers and Toucans supporters. Absent from Thursday’s (July 18) special meeting were councilmen Ray Arrington and Kevin Boriskie. Bryan Man Who Admits To Domestic Violence Crimes Is Placed On Probation

A Bryan man admits in Brazos County district court to two domestic violence criminal charges involving the same victim. The plea agreement between 26 year old Brenden Ramirez and the district attorney’s office included guilty pleas to family violence assault with a prior conviction that took place in October 2022 and to violating a protection order by coming in contact with the victim three times between May 17th and 26th of this year. Those violations, according to a College Station police arrest report, showed Ramirez shoved the same victim down a stairway twice and threw her to the ground. Ramirez was placed on a form of probation called deferred adjudication for five years. Conditions includes completing a men’s home treatment program, completing a battering intervention and prevention program (BIPP), and having no contact with the victim. Ramirez was also ordered to perform 200 hours of community service and pay a $1,000 dollar fine. The plea agreement also included a 30 day jail sentence after admitting to DWI’s that took place on May 18th and May 26th of this year.

Bryan motorists may have noticed new fences surrounding some school campuses that also border city parks. City council members were given an update during their July 9th regular meeting that Bryan ISD installed security fencing affecting Cherry, Tiffany, and Austin’s Colony parks.
