Bryan Broadcasting Receives State and National Honors

State and national industry honors have been received at WTAW’s parent company, Bryan Broadcasting.

Vice president and general manager Ben Downs will receive the Texas Association of Broadcast Educators (TABE) broadcaster of the year award later this month. According to TABE’s Dr. Tony DeMars, professor and the Radio-TV division director at Texas A&M-Commerce, “Downs’ continued role with the Texas Broadcast Education Foundation and his many other actions through his years in support of broadcast education make him a great choice to be honored this year by TABE.” That includes assisting Texas A&M-College Station students in launching Fusion FM last September on one of Bryan Broadcasting’s HD channels.

For the ninth time since 2010, a Bryan Broadcasting station is a finalist for a Crystal Award from the National Association of Broadcasters. The Crystal recognizes radio stations for outstanding year-round commitment to community service. Sister station Candy 95, which received a Crystal in 2012, is the only Texas station among this year’s 50 finalists. Ten recipients will be announced in April during the annual NAB show.
