Bryan boys and Tiger Girls win Crosstown battles

Second time around for the crosstown showdowns and the same winners but this time, for the girls’ battle of Vikes and Tigers, it was just by a bucket as the Consolidated Tigers hung on to playoff hopes with a 63-61 win over the upset minded Vikings at Tiger Gym. Taylor Tucker scored 34 points for the Tigers, who didn’t take a lead until the final quarter of the game. Bryan was led in scoring by Amanda Lawson’s 24 points before she fouled out. The Tigers are 6-4 in district play while Bryan drops to 1-9.

At Viking Gym, the boys of Bryan beat Consol 58-43 as a defensive stand in the second quarter turned a nine-point deficit into a 33-19 halftime lead. Consol cut the Bryan lead to 10 after three quarters but the Vikes outscored the Tigers by five in the final quarter. The Vikes were led by J- MyChal Reese’s 23 points while Alex Caruso led Consol with 17 points. Bryan boys go to 5-3 in district while Consol drops to 4-4.
