The Bryan Wal-Mart store on Briarcrest was open Thanksgiving morning following an evacuation Wednesday night due to an arson.

According to the arrest report from the Bryan fire department, 42 year old Robert Crawford, Jr. of Bryan was seen on store video leaning into a clothes rack. That was followed by a spark or flash in the rack and a fire growing as Crawford left the area.

The video also showed Crawford throwing away a lighter, which was recovered.

Crawford told the BFD investigator according to the arrest report the lighter belonged to him but denied setting the fire.

Firefighters received the call Wednesday night shortly before eight of employees discovering fires set to two racks of clothes within a ten minute period.

The fires were extinguished before firefighters arrived. But fire equipment was used to remove smoke from the store.

Crawford was held in the Brazos County Jail Thursday morning on bonds totaling $20,000 dollars.
