Brazos Valley Hospitality Association Holds Meeting Of Local Hotel Owner/Operators

A recent meeting of the new Brazos Valley Hospitality Association included discussion about the weekday occupancy rate of local hotels dropping under 50 percent last year.

That has contributed to five local hotels filing for bankruptcy or going into receivership.

The association’s Noel Mayes says converting closed hotels to student housing is not an option.

There is also little chance of closed hotels being used as senior housing.

This year’s original revenue forecast growing as much as two percent has been adjusted downward in part due to price wars for the limited business.
