The Brazos Valley Food Bank is hosting the 32nd annual Feast of Caring fundraising event on Wednesday, August 6th.

Theresa Mangapora, Executive Director, says this year’s fundraising goal is $55,000, which is more than they made last year.

“The reason we are having to up our goal this year, with the new administration we have lost some of our government funding,” says Mangapora.

Mangapora says the modest menu is intentional.

“It is supposed to remind us that there are some people in our community who don’t know where their next meal is going to come from and a meal like this, they may consider a feast,” says Mangapora.

Celebrity servers will be on hand to serve the meal of sausage, beans and rice.

“Hoping that you can make some sore of a donation. Maybe what you would have paid if you had gone out to lunch or more if possible,” says Mangapora.

Feast of Caring is Wednesday from 11 a.m. – 1 p.m. at the Brazos Center.
