The Brazos Valley Food Bank (BVFB) announces the Wheeler Foundation’s $100,000 matching grant fundraiser was exceeded with a week remaining in the campaign.

BVFB executive director Theresa Mangapora told WTAW News “I’m flabbergasted by how amazing” and “really blown away” about the results.

Mangapora says the money is equivalent to providing one million meals, and in a food bank e-mail she wrote “Every single dollar will be used wisely to meet urgent needs today and to prepare for a long recovery from the financial impact of the COVID-19 pandemic.”

The e-mail also noted this was BVFB’s largest match ever.
