Brazos County has filed eminent domain lawsuits against two property owners.

County commissioners are wanting land to begin improvements to a portion I & GN Road, which has been closed since September 2018.

An outside legal firm hired by commissioners earlier this month filed one case in county court at law number one, and the other case in C-C-L two.

In both cases, the county wants to buy property and a permanent easement to start road repairs and create a drainage channel.

The county seeks the appointment of a three member panel to determine how much the property owners should be paid.

I & GN Road was closed between Capstone and Graham after a crack formed in the pavement along a guardrail next to an 18 foot ditch. That caused the ground behind the guardrail to drop one and a half feet.
