Brazos County Election Returns Delayed Due To Mail Ballots

Election night returns in Brazos County were delayed due to problems processing 880 mail ballots.

County Clerk Karen McQueen says they could have been scanned after early voting ended, but that wasn’t done due to the holiday weekend.

Equipment problems also caused the ballots to be scanned a second time for accuracy.

McQueen says for the November general election, mail ballots will be scanned as soon as allowed by state law.

Voter turnout in Brazos County was 17 percent. Out of 86,668 registered voters, 14,724 participated in Tuesday’s primary.

Karen McQueen visits with WTAW’s Bill Oliver.
