A Bryan man described by the Brazos County district attorney’s office as someone with nearly two decades of violent offenses is returning to prison.

That’s after a district court jury convicted 39 year old Ashley Judson White then sentenced him to the maximum 20 years for threatening to kill a Brazos County jail nurse and her family.

According to the d-a’s news release, White threatened to bomb black churches and kill black inmates and their families.

And other victims from Brazos, Hays, and Harris counties said they armed themselves and their homes following White’s threats of stalking, raping, murdering, and torturing their families.

White’s first trip to prison according to prosecutors was in 2016 for aggravated assault with a deadly weapon and assault of a public servant.

News release from the Brazos County district attorney’s office:

On Thursday, June 17, 2021, a Brazos County jury sentenced 39 year old Ashley White to the maximum 20 years sentence in prison for Retaliation. He faced an enhanced range of punishment of 2-20 years because of a prior prison sentence.

On April 11, 2020, White made violent threats to a nurse who works in the Brazos County Detention Center. Months prior, the nurse had reported White for hoarding medication in violation of jail policies. In response, White threatened to find and murder her and her family when he was released from custody.

During the punishment phase of the trial, the jury learned that this was not the first or last time White had made violent and graphic threats to harm public servants and members of our community. A long line of women and men from Brazos, Harris, and Hays Counties testified before the jury about White’s graphic threats to stalk, rape, murder, and torture their families. Some testified that they took steps to remain safe by arming themselves and their homes because of their fear of the defendant.

Brazos County detention officers, nurses, and deputies testified about White’s consistent and extreme violence toward jail staff and other inmates. The defendant threatened to bomb Black churches, kill black inmates and their families.

White’s criminal history spans nearly two decades and includes violent offenses such as Assault Family Violence and Escape. In 2016, White was sent to prison for Aggravated Assault with a Deadly Weapon and Assault of a Public Servant.
