A Brazos County district court jury has convicted a Bedias man of stealing what the trial judge determined was $100,000 dollars of tungsten carbide metal.

51 year old Dennis Surface is the first of two brothers to go to trial on a felony theft charge from their former employer, which is located in south Brazos County.

According to the indictment, multiple thefts at Dynalloy Industries took place between December 2014 and May 2015.

The theft was reported to the sheriff’s office by a neighbor and a customer of the business north of Navasota.

Surface was sentenced to ten years in prison plus full restitution. But the judge will review punishment after Surface serves 90 to 180 days.

The brother, 46 year old Michael Surface of Navasota, remains out of jail on bond while awaiting his trial.
