That was followed by the trial judge sentencing 44 year old Richard Rodriquez to seven years in prison for the incident that took place in September 2024.
Online court records show this is Rodriquez’s second felony conviction. In 2007, he pleaded guilty to family violence assault causing bodily injury. And he pleaded guilty in 2002 to a misdemeanor assault of a family member.
College Station police is looking for those responsible for gunfire that injured two people. A CSPD Facebook post did not give the date or time of the gunfire at Southgate Village apartments on Luther Street. The two gunshot victims were taken to local hospitals for treatment of non-life threatening injuries. CSPD has also not released anything that investigators have learned about what led to the gunfire. Anyone with information is asked to call CSPD at 979-764-3600.
Brazos County commissioners received an update at their last meeting (June 23) from the public defender’s office. Nathan Wood led off with starting two new specialty divisions, dealing with juvenile offenders and people with mental health issues. Wood also said the new divisions has resulted in creating four vacancies for attorneys in his office. Commissioners were asked to take into consideration, recommendations from an outside consultant regarding salaries of public defender attorneys. Wood reported the public defender’s office has 612 active clients and resolved 215 cases during this year’s second quarter. College Station police responded Monday night (June 29) to a report from someone who was concerned about a woman killing a dog. The CSPD arrest report says the reporting party took a video of the dog being swung in the air by its leash and the dog being dragged in a parking lot when the temperature was 95 degrees. The dog owner told the responding officer that she was trying to teach the dog how to properly walk. The arrest report did not say what happened to the dog after 43 year old Desiree Carter of Bryan went to jail on a charge of animal cruelty. Carter, who according to online records was booked for the 30th time since June of 2000, was released after posting a $5,000 dollar bond.
