Brazos County commissioners approve realigning voting precincts.
The unanimous vote at Tuesday’s meeting (April 29) accepted recommendations by elections administrator Trudy Hancock.
She told commissioners state law requires precinct updates every March or April in an odd numbered year.
Hancock state laws have a minimum and maximum number of voters in each precinct, and what elected offices can be included in an individual precinct.
This year’s changes affects 50 different precincts by combining precincts or in one case, splitting a precinct in two.
Commissioners approved 15 individual motions to make the recommended changes.
The precinct changes currently have little effect in Brazos County, where voters can go to any voting center.
