Brazos County Commissioners unanimously approved a new meeting schedule, which begins in October. Commissioners will meet twice a month instead of weekly.
Commissioner Fred Brown said this is better for everyone, including the public.
“Staff is glad this is going to happen. And I think it is good for the public because now it gives us the opportunity to have workshops on a regular basis and when we have workshops, the public gets involved,” says Brown.
Commissioner Wanda Watson brought up a new statute that requires four days for an item to be placed on the agenda.
“Being able to be responsive to those who need agenda items, it just makes it a little bit easier for them to get every other week as opposed to every week,” says Watson.
Commissioner Chuck Konderla responded to Commissioner Wanda Watson’s comment about agenda’s needing to be set four days before a meeting.
“It’s four business days, so any holidays, anything that is coming up, the court has to put agendas out four business days ahead. That does make it more arduous on the staff,” says Konderla.
The new schedule begins with the October 14th meeting.

Beginning in October 2025, the Brazos County Commissioners Court will have regularly scheduled meetings twice a month instead of once a week. On Sept. 16, 2025, Commissioners unanimously approved moving to a twice-monthly schedule. If urgent business should come up in between those meetings, they still have the ability to call a special meeting. The hope in making this move is to allow more time for staff to prepare all of the agenda items, and to allow for the possibility of more frequent public workshops.
