An emergency amendment to this year’s Brazos County budget was approved by county commissioners during Tuesday’s meeting (April 30).

The amendment says the need for another court bailiff “is a case of grave public necessity to adequately provide safety and security”.

While commissioners made no comments, district judge David Hilburn thanked commissioners for the unanimous vote.

Hilburn also thanked the county’s law enforcement agencies who provided security during the last four months and county employees who assisted in creating the new position who will serve all courtrooms.
