Bryan ISD School Board Selects Architects For Bond Funded Projects At Bryan High, Rudder High, And Bryan Collegiate High Schools

The Bryan ISD school board selects architects for three more major projects associated with last November’s $397 million dollar bond issue. College Station Police Arrests For Child Abandonment And Evading Officers On Foot And In A Vehicle

College Station police respond to a report of a 15 month old girl walking around an apartment complex unsupervised during the noon hour on Wednesday (March 25). That led to the arrest of the common law husband of the toddler’s mother on a charge of child abandonment. The CSPD arrest report says 25 year old Andres Toxqui-Toxqui told an officer that he, his brother, and the child’s mother all knew the child would be alone for four hours. The child’s mother and uncle were not arrested. Jail records also show Toxqui is being held for immigration authorities. Bond on the child abandonment charge was set at $10,000 dollars. College Station police discover none of an estimated 20 people at an apartment pool Wednesday night (March 25) were residents of the complex. When an officer told the crowd, some who were smoking marijuana, that they were not allowed to leave, one man ran away. CSPD’s Facebook page says 18 year old Kiuntius Venters of Bryan was caught following a short chase and was in possession of a stolen handgun and an undisclosed amount of marijuana. As of March 26th, Venters remains jailed in lieu of bonds totaling $6,000 dollars on charges of evading arrest and misdemeanor possession of marijuana. The 21st time a College Station man is taken to the Brazos County jail in 25 years, the College Station police arrest report says it is after he gives his cell phone to a woman to record his apprehension because he tells a College Station police officer he didn’t feel safe around the officer. The arrest early Thursday morning (March 26) was after 42 year old Gilberto Trevino led the officer on a four and a half mile pursuit that ended at his home. The CSPD officer was attempting to stop Trevino’s car in response to a road rage report on Rock Prairie Road near the freeway. As of March 26th, Trevino remains jailed in lieu of a $10,000 dollar bond on a charge of evading arrest in a vehicle.

The Longtime Director Of College Station ISD’s Education Foundation Is Retiring

College Station ISD is looking for its next director of the district’s education foundation. A CSISD spokesman tells WTAW News that Teresa Benden will be retiring at the end of the current school year. Benden is in her 17th year as director. In the 2024-25 and 2023-24 school years, the last where annual reports are available, the foundation raised more than $1.1 one million dollars to fund a variety of programs supporting teachers and students.
