A Navasota man awaiting four trials in Brazos County district court has had his bond early doubled. That’s after the trial judge approved a motion by the Brazos County district attorney’s office.
According to court documents, 24 year old Hayden Hughes was arrested October 6, 2019 for misdemeanor possession of marijuana and driving with an invalid license. Two weeks later, Hughes was arrested for DWI with a prior conviction, possession of a controlled substance, and driving with an invalid license.
While out on bonds for those arrests, according to the DA’s motion, Hughes was arrested three more times last November and December. Two of those arrests were on Grimes County charges of felony theft.
Brazos County prosecutors also accuse Hughes of not taking drug tests five times and admitting to using marijuana twice.
That led to the judge agreeing to raise bond from $15,000 to $28,000 dollars, which Hughes posted on Monday.
