April is Child Abuse Prevention and Awareness month. Scotty’s House and local law enforcement came together Wednesday, April 4th for a blue ribbon ceremony representing the fight against child abuse in the community.
Speakers at the ceremony included Bryan Assistant Chief Wayland Rawls, College Station Assistant Chief Scott McCollum, and Brazos County Sheriff Chris Kirk.
The speakers thanked police officers, Scotty’s House and others in the community for their work in spreading awareness and preventing child abuse in the Brazos Valley.
In 2011, there were 126 cases of child abuse in the Brazos Valley. In honor of the victims, 126 blue ribbons were tied to a tree in front of the Bryan Police Department.
