Friday (May 15) marks 25 years since the first Blue Baker bakery and café opened on Dominik in College Station.
And Friday’s silver anniversary includes a free handcrafted signature cookie while supplies last at all three College Station locations.
The owner and founder, David Fox, shares on their website that the name comes from when his favorite aunt shared her blueberry bread recipe with him when he was a little boy and she nicknamed him “Blue Baker”. After learning his craft in Paris, he landed in College Station and found an old and forgotten bakery that bears the nickname his aunt gave him.
News release from Blue Baker:
Blue Baker proudly celebrates 25 years—a quarter-century—of crafting, baking, and sharing homemade goodness with the Bryan-College Station community. Since opening its doors in 2001, the locally owned bakery and café has grown from a single neighborhood bakery into a beloved Brazos Valley tradition rooted in artisan baking, fresh food, and community connection.
To mark the milestone, Blue Baker is inviting the community to participate in its annual Free Cookie Day on Friday, May 15, at all three of its College Station locations. Guests can enjoy one of Blue Baker’s fresh-baked, handcrafted signature cookies—completely free, no purchase necessary, while supplies last.
As a special 25th anniversary addition, Blue Baker is also introducing a limited-time Funfetti Birthday Cookie—a nostalgic, celebratory treat loaded with white chocolate chips and colorful sprinkles—available during the anniversary month of May.
“Whether you’re a longtime guest or visiting for the first time, Free Cookie Day is our way of saying thank you to the community that has supported us for 25 years,” said David Fox, owner and founder of Blue Baker. “We’re grateful to continue doing what we love—baking fresh, high-quality food and sharing it with the Brazos Valley.”
Free Cookie Day will take place on Friday, May 15, from 7am to 9pm at the following locations:
• 201 Dominik Drive (Original location, opened May 15, 2001)
• 800 University Drive E.
• 4500 Mills Park Circle
“Our journey began right here in College Station, and we are incredibly grateful for the community that has supported us every step of the way over the past 25 years,” Fox added. “This celebration is our way of saying thank you and giving back to the place that made Blue Baker what it is today.”
Since opening in 2001, Blue Baker has become a well-known presence in the Brazos Valley through its ties to the local community. The family-owned bakery and café operates multiple locations and offers an extensive menu featuring handcrafted breads, pastries, sandwiches, soups, salads, and signature stone-oven pizzas, all made from scratch with high-quality ingredients. Over the past 25 years, Blue Baker has remained a steady presence in the College Station community, with a continued commitment to giving back. For more information, visit www.bluebaker.com
