Brazos County Tax Office Closed To The Public August 1st To Prepare For A Leadership Change

The Brazos County tax office will be closed to the public Thursday (August 1) to prepare for a leadership change. Kristy Roe, who is retiring as tax assessor-collector, gave a reminder during Tuesday’s (July 30) county commission meeting. On Thursday, employees from the tax office and other county departments will be making what Roe says are “necessary software and inventory verifications that will enable the office to open on Friday August 2nd under the newly appointed County Tax Assessor/Collector.” Roe also shared with commissioners a recent inspection by the Texas department of motor vehicles that is required during a leadership transition. Staff, along with various other County office personnel will be working to make necessary software modifications and inventory verifications that will enable the office to open on Friday August 2nd under the newly appointed County Tax Assessor/Collector. Residents are encouraged to take care of urgent business before the end of July to avoid any delays. Bryan ISD Announces The End Of Third Party Food Delivery To Students

Bryan ISD announces the end of third party food delivery to students. BISD social media says the decision is “due to safety and security precautions”. The announcement follows comments made during the BISD school board’s April 1st meeting from board member Mark McCall. McCall said 30 to 45 lunches were being delivered per lunch period, causing issues for staff inside campus buildings and with the additional traffic outside the buildings. A BISD spokesman told WTAW News that employees would still be allowed to receive food deliveries.

Bryan City Council Awards Construction Contracts For Westside Water And Sewer Line Extensions

Business at the July regular meeting of the Bryan city council included awarding two construction contracts to extend infrastructure on the city’s west side. Without public discussion, the council unanimously awarding a nearly $4 million dollar contract to extend a waterline whose customers can include the RELLIS campus. The primary customers will be those located along a two and a half mile stretch of Highway 47 south of the RELLIS campus. The council also unanimously awarded without public discussion, a nearly $1 million dollar contract to extend a sewer main line along Highway 47 to land that is owned by the Bryan Business Council for future development. Federal pandemic grant money is paying for the sewer line, and the waterline extension is being paid out of the city’s water department fund.
