ARLINGTON, Texas (AP) _ Six Flags Over Texas is closer to selling beer after a yearlong fight with opponents.
The Texas Alcoholic Beverage Commission announced administrator Alan Steen has signed an order clearing the way for alcohol sales at the park and its Six Flags Hurricane Harbor.
Steen and administrative law Judge Tanya Cooper ruled such sales would not violate state law.
Opponents will have 20 days to file a motion for another hearing.
A TABC spokeswoman says if there are no appeals, the license could be issued by March 20 or so.
Arlington Mayor Robert Cluck says he’s disappointed with the decision — but won’t appeal.
Six Flags has said its intention would be to serve only beer and at a few restaurants inside the park. It applied for a mixed beverage permit because it also hosts private parties.
Six Flags Over Texas opens Saturday for its regular season.
