B/CS Loses Community Leader Sam Sharp

A longtime community leader has died.

Attorney and banker Sam Sharp died Wednesday at the age of 80 following a battle with leukemia.

Sharp’s civic involvement extended from dressing up as Uncle Sam when Bryan held Fourth of July parades to establishing the Community Foundation of the Brazos Valley, the local Habitat For Humanity, and Hospice Brazos Valley. Sam and his wife Louise also gave a dictionary to every third grade student in the Bryan school district.

A memorial service for Sam Sharp has been scheduled for Saturday at 2 p.m. at Saint Andrew’s Episcopal Church in downtown Bryan.
